Special Education

Learning support planned around how your child learns best, one step at a time.

Special Education in Tirur

Some children find school harder than others. They may mix up letters, skip words while reading, struggle with simple sums or forget what they learnt yesterday. This is not laziness. Many children simply learn in a different way. Special education at Early Nest helps us understand how your child learns, so teaching can be shaped around them.

Our special educator writes an Individualised Education Plan (IEP) for your child, setting out the learning goals we will work on together. Sessions use inclusive teaching methods and gentle behaviour strategies to build learning, attention, communication and independence in daily routines. We work alongside our other therapists and with you, so what your child practises here can carry over to home and school.

What we work on

Areas special education can help with

  • Reading and writing

Help with recognising letters, reading without skipping words, and writing with more ease, using steps that build confidence before speed.

  • Early maths and number sense

Building an understanding of numbers and simple maths, and practical skills such as handling time and money in everyday life.

  • Attention and memory

Activities and routines that help your child concentrate for longer, follow instructions and remember what they have learnt.

  • Behaviour for learning

Gentle behaviour management strategies that help your child settle into learning tasks, take part more fully and cope better with classroom routines.

  • Communication and social skills

Support to ask for help, take turns and work alongside other children during learning activities, so school feels less lonely and more enjoyable.

  • Daily-routine independence

Practising everyday tasks and routines step by step, so your child can do more things by themselves at home and at school.

Who it can help

  • Learning disability
  • Dyslexia (reading difficulty)
  • Intellectual disability
  • ADHD
  • Autism
  • Poor memory or forgetfulness
  • Difficulty concentrating in class

Signs your child may benefit

  • Your child finds it hard to recognise letters, or often skips or mixes up words while reading.
  • Writing is slow, messy or very tiring for them compared with other children their age.
  • Simple sums, counting, telling the time or handling money seem confusing.
  • They forget what they learnt quite quickly, even after lots of practice.
  • Teachers mention that your child struggles to concentrate or keep up in class.
  • Homework often ends in frustration, tears or avoidance.

A general guide, not a diagnosis. If you are unsure, an assessment can bring clarity.

How it works

Special Education at Early Nest

  1. Getting to know your child

We start with an assessment of your child's learning, attention and daily skills, and listen carefully to what you have noticed at home and heard from their teachers.

  2. A plan made for them

We write an Individualised Education Plan (IEP) with small, clear goals, and talk it through with you so you know what we are working on.

  3. Learning through guided sessions

Each session follows the plan, using hands-on activities and gentle behaviour strategies, and we work with our other therapists when your child needs support in more than one area.

  4. Reviewing and sharing progress

We check progress regularly, adjust goals as your child grows, and share simple ideas you can use at home to keep learning going.

Questions parents ask

What is an IEP?

An Individualised Education Plan is a written plan made just for your child. It sets out small, clear learning goals and the ways we will work towards them. We share it with you, review it as your child makes progress, and change it when their needs change.

My child is just slow at studies. Do they really need special education?

Not every child who struggles needs ongoing support. An assessment helps us understand what is making learning hard, whether it is reading, attention, memory or something else. We will explain what we find in plain words and suggest the next steps that suit your child.

Does this replace my child's school?

No. Special education at Early Nest works alongside your child's schooling. The aim is to build the skills and confidence they need so they can cope better and take part more fully in their own classroom.

Can I be involved in my child's sessions?

Yes, families are an important part of the process. We talk with you about your child's goals, share how sessions are going, and give you simple activities and strategies to use at home so learning continues between visits.
